Jessie Austin brings over 15 years of leadership experience in operations, program design, and community engagement across the Bay Area’s educational and Jewish nonprofit sectors. As Director of Operations at Chochmat HaLev, Jessie blends deep operational expertise with a heart-centered approach to systems-building, supporting the infrastructure that allows spiritual life and community to thrive.
Prior to joining Chochmat, Jessie served as Director of Extended Day and Auxiliary Programs at The Hamlin School, where she oversaw a multimillion-dollar budget and managed a team of over 40 staff and contractors, leading daily operations for multiple enrichment and summer programs. She has also held key roles at Golden Bridges School, Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards, and Jewish Vocational Services —designing and running programs that center creativity, equity, and Jewish values.
A lifelong Bay Area resident and graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Modern Jewish Studies, Jessie is passionate about building sustainable systems that reflect the spirit and complexity of Jewish community. She is also a performing artist—a singer and dancer who brings joy and presence to all that she does. Jessie lives in Richmond with her son Amir, a lovable golden doodle named Echo, and a small flock of chickens.
At Chochmat, Jessie is thrilled to support a strong infrastructure in a community steeped in wisdom, tradition, and innovation. She looks forward to partnering with members, staff, and leaders to help Chochmat continue to flourish—one spreadsheet, schedule, and sacred moment at a time.
