Tu B’Shevat – New Year of the Trees
Sunday, February 9, 10 – 1 pm
Join Rabbi Lynn and the Urban Shtetl Crew in an exploration of the trees around Chochmat HaLev.
• Get to know the trees around our building, garden, and neighborhood.
• Plant a pomegranate tree
• Write wishes on the forgiveness tree
• Learn about Ibrahim Baba’s tree
• Paint tree names on stones to identify 12 special trees at Chochmat Halev
• Tell Parashat Theater tree stories
Bring tree food to share at our Tu B’Shevat Seder along with paper bag lunch.
Dress for outside activities.
Ibrahim Baba
Ibrahim Baba, scholar, educator cultural worker and public intellectual and activist, was our friend and spiritual teacher. His yartzeit will be commemorated during the Tu Bshevat ceremony at Chochmat Halev which begins at 11 AM. Jeffrey Kessler will share memories of Baba in front of the flowering quince planted in his honor. Join us to share in Ibrahim Baba’s heart wisdom while we celebrate the life of trees.
