Discover the layered meanings of blessing the fruit of the vine.
featuring 2019 Mensch Zinfandel

The Psalmist teaches that when wine is blessed before being sipped, there will be a swirl of joy! Wine is an essential component of Jewish celebrations. It’s the magical juice that transforms time and space from mundane to extraordinary.

As one of the blessings that welcomes Shabbat, borei pri hagafen expresses gratitude for the grapevine and all of its gifts. Unpack these words with Rabbi Batshir Torchio. We’ll explore this blessing’s central role as the kickoff to every Jewish holiday and weekly Shabbat. By the end of this session, you’ll feel more connected to the tradition and will be ready to share the joy with family and friends.
