Heart Rising (Nasa Liban): A Daylong Retreat

Heart Rising (Nasa Liban): A Daylong Retreat
Sunday, March 8, 2026
9am – 5pm
In person at Chochmat HaLev
2215 Prince St. Berkeley, CA 94705

Led by Chochmat HaLev’s Rabbi Zvika Krieger and Musical Director Lior Tsarfaty with special guest Norman Fischer, renowned poet, author, Zen Buddhist teacher and priest, and former abbot for the San Francisco Zen Center.

Join us for a day of Jewish and Buddhist wisdom teachings, meditation, song and chant, group study, and more. Participants of all backgrounds are warmly welcome, including those new to meditation or spiritual practice.

On this retreat, we’ll be exploring the invitation from this season’s Torah reading to uplift the wisdom of our hearts – “נָשָׂא לִבָּן אֹתָנָה בְּחׇכְמָה”. We’ll practice how to tap into our own heart wisdom, particularly amidst the forces in our world that are aiming to keep us disconnected and shut down.

“The Timeless Mystery places wisdom and discernment in every wise-hearted person to know how to do all the sacred work.”
“וְכׇל־אִישׁ חֲכַם־לֵב אֲשֶׁר נָתַן יְהוָה חָכְמָה וּתְבוּנָה בָּהֵמָּה לָדַעַת לַעֲשֹׂת אֶת־כׇּל־מְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ”

About the facilitators:

Daniella Salzman

“Each of us wants the same thing in our heart of hearts, call it love, freedom, wholeness, or connection. And our common longing comes from the same source, call it spirit, g-d, the psyche, or nature. Ironically, that source is ultimately what we long for. And the answer to any core question we have – who we are, what we should do, and how we should do it – arises when we turn inwards and follow our longing all the way back to its source. Our personal truth and our ultimate truth align, and we come home”.
