This year, our Affinity Groups will be taking turns “holding court” under the Sukkah — and everyone’s welcome! Whether or not you’re interested in the specific group, it’s the perfect way to casually hang out at Chochmat, meet new people, and soak up the spirit of the season. Come to hang out for part or all of it!

Death Over Wine + Tea
Third Wednesday of the month, 7pm to 8:30pm
Modeled after the official “Death Cafe” format, these Death Over Wine/Tea events provide a safe space in which to explore with others your feelings and thoughts around death and dying in lightly moderated, participant-directed discussions facilitated by experienced death educators/professionals. With no agenda or topics, we listen to one another in small groups as we grapple with our shared mortality. Note: This is not a grief-support group, although grief is certainly a topic that comes up.

Elders Affinity Group
First Sunday and second Tuesday of the month in the Social Hall.
Come to one or both! (We also have other dates later in the month for group outings!) The Elders Circle brings together Chochmat members who are 60+ to share life lessons, stories, and wisdom with the goal of creating community and offering support to one another through guided discussions and activities. In addition to twice-monthly meetings, we provide opportunities to meet up at movies, theaters, museums, restaurants, etc. We are a newly-formed affinity group and welcome new members. (This Elders Affinity Group is currently only available to Chochmat members. If you are interested in membership, visit Chochmat.org/join or contact brittany@chochmat.org)

A team is in relationship with the individual/family to find work, housing, benefits, community and each team member offers about 1 to 4 hours of support a week. As of August 2025, there are over 20 people from the Chochmat community who accompany people, provide housing. Collectively we have raised over $20,000 to support our community.

Antiracism Mitzvah Project (AMP)
First Wednesday of the month at Chochmat.
AMP is a racial justice affinity group for anyone who wants to come together to learn about the history of racism in this country, increase our self-awareness, and to take meaningful actions toward racial justice. We worked together on the workbook “Do The Work! An Antiracist Activity Book”, W. Kamau Bell and Kate Schatz. Now we share articles, videos, etc for shared discussion and enlightenment. We encourage showing up to support Black-led organizations and events in our community. Come join us!
