HeartSpace: Psychedelics, Judaism, and You
Join Madison Margolin, journalist and co-founder of the Jewish Psychedelic Summit, for a free-wheeling discussion about the Jewish psychedelic renaissance. We’ll tackle questions like how “entheogens” can help deepen spirituality and experiences of the divine, whether the ancient prophets were tripping and if there is a psychedelic tradition in our lineage, prospects for the broader legalization of psychedelics (and the role of the Jewish community in that), and how Judaism can help curtail some of the harms and abuse arising amidst expanded psychedelic use. Email shalom@chochmat.org to join our HeartSpace WhatsApp group for more info and future events.

Event will start promptly at 7pm — please arrive a few minutes early to check in and be seated.

If you’re planning to attend in-person, please register in advance.

If you’re planning to attend via Zoom, there is no need to register. The link is here: https://zoom.us/j/87810404956

(Note: This Zoom service will be a “Webinar” style livestream (no chat or interactive features this week).

Madison Margolin is the co-founder of the Jewish Psychedelic Summit and DoubleBlind, a publication covering psychedelics and where they intersect with mental health, environmental justice, social equity, and more. She is a contributing editor to Ayin Press, co-host of the Set & Setting podcast on the Be Here Now Network, and has written for Rolling StonePlayboyVICEHigh Times, and Tablet Magazine, among other outlets. Lauren Arrow (she/her), the Queer Jewitch founder of ProcessSING loves nothing more than connecting with the Shekhinah through music. She started singing with her congregation Rodef Shalom as a preschooler and is excited to be invited into the Chochmat HaLev Magick!

Mike Perlmutter has been performing klezmer, Balkan, and ceremonial Jewish music on saxophone and clarinet for over twenty years with groups such as Saul Goodman’s Klezmer Band, Inspector Gadje, Zoyres Eastern European Wild Ferment, and the Chochmat Halev Sacred Music Ensemble. He’s an active community music organizer, and served four years on the Board of Directors for KlezCalifornia.

Outside of music he’s an environmental conservation professional and activist. He’s also known for his pickling.
