ELUL MEDITATION

Wednesdays, August 23, 30, September 3, 13, 21 - 8:15am Location: Chochmat HaLev Garden Room Elul, the last month in the Jewish calendar, is traditionally a time for self-reflection and stocktaking, for making the gradual and lifelong turning toward Wholeness and Holiness. It is a time for the internal and interpersonal work of Teshuvah, a time to prepare for the depth and majesty of the High Holidays. Meditation can be a great aid and support in engaging this Elul process. During this month, our Wednesday morning sits will focus on building our awareness, intention, and openness to this process of Teshuvah – using the weekly Torah portion and the middot (character traits) as vehicles for our practice. Everyone is warmly welcome.

The Magic of Music, Meditation, and Middot – A Chanting Workshop

Sunday, September 17, 2017 - 10:00am-4:00pm Bring the alchemy of music, mindfulness, and mussar into your preparation for the High Holidays. During Elul, the last month of the Jewish year, we traditionally spend time in self-reflection and consideration of where we have been and where we are heading. This daylong retreat will offer you support and companionship in your personal Teshuvah work, utilizing silence, song, and teachings from various wisdom traditions. Lior Tsarfaty is a professional musician and a graduate of both the Voice, Sound and Music Healing program of the California Institute of Integral studies and the Vox Mundi School of Voice and Transformation.  After he came from Israel to the Bay Area he started gathering prayers and chants and founded the “Prayer Songs Project”, a project that brings together prayers and sacred music from different cultures and countries into a concert of art and community. Lior’s passion is to intertwine music and personal transformations. Laura Goldman teaches meditation and Mussar throughout the Bay Area, as well as leading contemplative worship at Chochmat HaLev. She is influenced and inspired by multiple faith traditions, and is particularly interested in the areas where they overlap and intersect. Powered by Eventbrite
