Mind on the Move Qigong – Hips and Shoulders

Mondays December 4, 11,18, January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19 - 6:00-7:15 pm Drop-ins welcome: $15 $60 5-class pass $120 10-week series HIPS AND SHOULDERS Feeling more deeply into the movements of our hip and shoulder joints will bring more ease to our practice and daily life. Exploring and clarifying the relationships between these four corners will help open the spine, free the breath, and enliven the center. We will do some simple movement awareness exercises to shine a light on these relationships during our qigong practice.   Molly Barker has trained in Qigong and body mechanics with Chris Fernie, founder of the Institute for Internal Transformation, since 2008. She has studied body alignment, mindfulness, and healthy movement, independently and with many teachers, since 2003.  Molly is also completing her teacher certification in Peter Wayne’s  Eight Active Ingredients of Tai Chi.  From her many years as a practicing and teaching artist, she brings to Qigong a playful and searching mind. Qigong (chi gung) is a set of movement and meditation practices originating in China.  It integrates awareness of body, breath, and mind to restore health and wholeness. Powered by Eventbrite

The Moon in Psychological Astrology

The Moon is about our feelings, instincts, how we were mothered, what nurtures us and how we feel safe. We will go through the elements (fire, water, earth, air) & signs to gain a better understanding of what it means to have your moon in Gemini vs Pisces and more. You will leave with a better grasp of the Moon in Astrology and the importance of the elements, how they affect your moon and your chart as a whole. You will also leave understanding that there is much more to Astrology than your sun sign! The class will be all the more exciting if you come knowing your Moon sign which you can find on Astro.com. Jenny Overman is an intuitive feeling Cancer sun sign with an Aquarius ascendant. In her astrology work, Jenny draws from her love of art, poetry, embodied practices, psychology and life experiences. Her deep understanding of somatic experiencing, yoga, 12 steps and grief work can help her to guide you with love, empathy and skill. She has devoted the better part of her life to personal growth and practices such as continuum, dance and yoga. Jenny has been studying Psychological Astrology since 2006. For 8 years she has been studying intensely with her teacher David Young, a seasoned astrologer, psychotherapist, and teacher. Tai Chi

Thursdays: 5 - 6:30 pm. Jeffrey Kessler. Drawing on teachings from both Chinese and Jewish Mysticism, we cultivate embodied awareness through a variety of movement, breathing, and meditation practices. This ongoing class is designed to aid the development of vibrant health, inner strength, balance, and harmony. Jeffrey holds degrees in philosophy, mathematics and spiritual psychology. He is a long-time practitioner and teacher of Tai-Chi Chuan. A graduate of Chochmat HaLev’s Jewish Meditation Instructor’s Training program and a student of various traditions and psycho-physical systems, he is dedicated to the deepening of Jewish Spiritual practice.
