Whether writing fiction or poetry, essay, prayer, praise song, rant, lament, or article, writing is both work and play. Yet, many of us judge our work before we even put pen to paper, doubt our stories will be interesting, or expect perfection from first drafts.
In this workshop author J. Ruth Gendler, will invite us to write from observation, imagination and wonder, to write from what we know and don’t know. In the process we will reconnect with the impulse to tell stories; and focus on listening–to ourselves, to language, to each other.
Ruth Gendler, a “connoisseur of questions” is a printmaker, author of three books of “lyrical nonfiction” including the bestselling The Book of Qualities, and the award winning Notes on the Need for Beauty. She has led workshops on creativity and taught writing classes for children and adults for thirty years.
