HIPS AND SHOULDERS
Feeling more deeply into the movements of our hip and shoulder joints will bring more ease to our practice and daily life. Exploring and clarifying the relationships between these four corners will help open the spine, free the breath, and enliven the center. We will do some simple movement awareness exercises to shine a light on these relationships during our qigong practice.
Molly Barker has trained in Qigong and body mechanics with Chris Fernie, founder of the Institute for Internal Transformation, since 2008. She has studied body alignment, mindfulness, and healthy movement, independently and with many teachers, since 2003. Molly is also completing her teacher certification in Peter Wayne’s Eight Active Ingredients of Tai Chi. From her many years as a practicing and teaching artist, she brings to Qigong a playful and searching mind.
Qigong (chi gung) is a set of movement and meditation practices originating in China. It integrates awareness of body, breath, and mind to restore health and wholeness.
