WHAT IS RELAXATION?
Do you feel it in your body? Can you find it with your mind? Is it possible to practice relaxing? Important for health, and an essential part of qigong and tai chi, what is relaxation? We will explore various approaches to relaxing as we practice qigong movements in walking, standing and sitting. We’ll refine and deepen our experiential understanding, learning which approaches to relaxation help us most and homing in on a sense of reliability.
Molly Barker has trained in Qigong and body mechanics with Chris Fernie, founder of the Institute for Internal Transformation, since 2008. She has studied body alignment, mindfulness, and healthy movement, independently and with many teachers, since 2003. Molly is also completing her teacher certification in Peter Wayne’s Eight Active Ingredients of Tai Chi. From her many years as a practicing and teaching artist, she brings to Qigong a playful and searching mind.
Qigong (chi gung) is a set of movement and meditation practices originating in China. It integrates awareness of body, breath, and mind to restore health and wholeness.
