Gevurah: In the Face of Genocide, a Force More Powerful

With Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb
Thursday, May 2, 7-9pm

(For Yom HaShoah)

$10 Members
$15 General Admission

This year, remembrance of Der Horban (the Holocaust) falls during the week we reflect upon gevurah, or strength. What constitutes spiritual strength in the face of extreme violence? Our tradition teaches, “Not by military might and not by force of arms. By spirit alone.” During class, we will examine two acts of nonviolent resistance to the Nazi regime and reflect on their meaning in relationship to our life and times. We will also study foundational texts from the Torah of Nonviolence and share a brief ceremony of remembrance that includes the broygez tantz.
