Contemplative Kabbalat Shabbat

Shabbat: Tu B’Shvat and Parshat B’Shalach

This Friday, January 26. 7:30 pm-9:00pm.

Estelle Frankel(teachings), Renee Benmeleh (vocals), Daniella Salzman (movement), Yari Mander (percussion) Gary and Ahbi Lapow (music).

Join us for a celebratory and contemplative Kabbalat Shabbat with chanting, poetry, movement, teaching, and meditation.
Estelle will give a drash on the weekly Torah portion, Parashat B’shalach, which describes the climax of the Exodus from Egypt and the crossing of the sea. She will also offer a prayer and invocation for Tu B’shvat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees.
A potluck Tu B’shvat Oneg will follow the service in the social hall, where we can view an art exhibit by Helena Foster and Susan Felix. Bring your fresh and dried fruits according to the 4 worlds:
Fruits with thick skins and shells (walnuts, oranges);
Fruits with an inner pit (olives, peaches);
Fruits that can be eaten in their entirety (figs, grapes);
Aromatic fruit or flowers from blossoming trees.

***This service is adult-oriented but older children who are comfortable with periods of silence are welcome.
