A Letter from Maggid Jhos Singer and Shlichat Tzibur Julie Batz

Shalom Chaverim/Dear Holy Friends,

J2 headshot_b&w_Reenie RaschkeWith tremendous joy, we have accepted the position as your new Spiritual and Community Leaders.

For the last 14 years we have been blessed by our work with the Coastside Jewish Community.  CJC’s trust in our knowledge, integrity and leadership has been both humbling and enriching, and we are grateful to have been able to be a part of CJC’s growth and history.

Now we are excited and ready to begin a new chapter of our work. We are honored to join Chochmat HaLev, such a dynamic, innovative and welcoming Jewish community.  We are committed to fostering a healthy, vibrant Jewish future here—provoking deep questions, inspiring spiritual connection, and opening the gates of Jewish tradition to all who seek its wisdom. We look forward to laughing, crying, singing and learning together with all of you!

The moon of Elul is just making her way into the night sky. This month—when Jewish tradition encourages us to take on the holy work of assessing the last year— our thoughts are sifting through the past and imagining the future. It is a time when we turn to each other to reconnect, to make right our relationships, and to begin anew.  What an auspicious time to be saying good-bye to one beloved community, and finding welcome in another.

We look forward to connecting with you when we come on board in November.  In the meantime, we wish you and your families a fruitful and meaningful Elul and a sweet and healthy New Year!

Blessings,
Julie & Jhos
