We always have some big jobs to fill that we make available to anyone interested in volunteering in exchange for attending services at no cost or a reduced cost. We require 4 hours of volunteering for each day of Rosh Hashanah and/or Yom Kippur.
The volunteer roles that qualify for work trade can be found using the link in this section only. If you sign up using the regular volunteer form, we will assume you have already purchased tickets and you will not be entered into our work trade system. Partial hours for reduced priced tickets are perfectly acceptable. Contact Chochmatvolunteers@chochmat.org to arrange for partial trade.
There are two exceptions to the policy above.
This year we have two Lead Registration Volunteer spots available that have a different set of requirements. These volunteers must commit to working both days of Rosh Hashanah or Yon Kippur, and preference will be given to someone who can work both services. These volunteers commit to two hour shifts each day, plus a training that will take place at Chochmat HaLev on a separate day before the event.
To qualify for this role, you must be computer and tech savvy. You will be using an iPad or iPhone to navigate our online ticketing app. You will be responsible for assisting the other registration volunteers at your table, which is why the training is mandatory. A staff member will be available for troubleshooting, so you do not need to be an expert. However, you do need to feel comfortable using the system after a brief training.
The second exception is that work trade shifts for 2nd Day Rosh Hashanah are available in exchange for tickets to that particular service, and cannot be used to fulfill the 4 hour obligation for other services.
If for any reason you are finding it hard to complete the 4 hour commitment with the available shifts, please contact Chochmatvolunteers@chochmat.org and we will try to accommodate you.
