Rabbi Avram Davis, Ph.D. is founder and director of Chochmat HaLev. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Jewish Studies and Ph.D. in Comparative Philosophy. He also has studied at Yeshiva Adar Torah, Yeshiva Mossas Rav Kook and Yeshiva Bratzlav. Avram's meditation training has included periods with Jewish and non-Jewish teachers. He is the author of three books: The Way of Flame, Judaic Mysticism: Eye of Blessing, and Meditation From the Heart of Judaism.
Nan Gefen, Ph.D. is the dean of faculty and president of Chochmat HaLev. She was a psychotherapist for many years, and became the co-founding publisher of Tikkun magazine in 1984. Nan has taught meditation and the art of finding spirituality in everyday life to hundreds of students across the U.S. She is the author of two books: Stranger in the Midst: A Memoir of Spiritual Discovery, and Discovering Jewish Meditation: Instruction and Guidance for Learning an Ancient Spiritual Practice.
