There are a myriad ways to worship, to feel the divine, to commune and express the infinite spirit that infuses all reality.  By creating art, we transcend the duality of our existence by being a two-way channel of reception and expression.  At once we open ourselves to receiving the highest wisdom via feelings, ideas, words, images, colors, textures; and we poise ourselves to express this message through the gifts and limitations of our humanity, our bodies, our materials.

The Art Gallery Mission is to provide spiritually based art to decorate the Social Hall, and to raise funds for Chochmat. Everyone is invited to express their inner artist, their inner wisdom, and submit art for display.

The Current Art Show in the Social Hall is of art based on a spiritual theme of the artist’s choice. The Show runs through April, 2008, and may be viewed after services and events, or between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The Art Gallery was created in 2005 when Patti Goldstein created the first show on the theme “Sh’ma.” Her concept was to have artists meditate on the published theme, and from their meditation produce art for the show. Patti was the curator for the first five show. Karel Edith Herrington is the current gallery curator

For more information about the gallery, please contact the current gallery curator Karel Edith Herrington at karel@chochmat.org.
